What is it?

What is Bitcare?

At littleBits, we believe schools, teachers, and students should have the best experience possible with our products. Our two-year Bitcare program makes it easy to get replacement Bits and accessories that stop working from normal wear and tear or the usual accidents, like drops. We’ll protect your investment in STEAM so that you can focus on play, making the ‘hands-on’ aspect of our learning the only thing that matters.

What is Covered under the plan?

  • Normal wear and tear and accidental damage, subject to certain limitations
  • Defects in materials or workmanship, manufacturer defects.

What is not Covered?

  • Intentional damage, lost, stolen, irretrievable items, cosmetic damage, commercial batteries, packaging, collateral, and storage.

How much does Bitcare cost, and how long does protection last?

Bitcare is $99 for one kit, Bitcare cost varies by kit, and starts at $49.  Protection last for two years.

Do you have volume discounts for multiple kits, e.g. classpacks?

Yes, there are cost savings on some select, multiple-kit products.

If I buy Bitcare along with my Kits, when does my coverage begin?

Coverage begins at purchase or Invoice date. You will receive a welcome email with details once your products are enrolled.

Which products does Bitcare cover?

Bitcare is available for the following littleBits Education products:

- STEAM Student Set

- STEAM Education Class Packs (Including 18 Student, 24 Student, and 30 Student Class Packs)

- STEAM Expansion Packs

- Code Kit

- Code Kit Class Packs (Including 18 Student, 24 Student, and 30 Student Class Packs)

- Code Kit Expansion Packs

What countries is Bitcare available in?

Bitcare is available in the United States only at this time.

 

Can I renew my Bitcare subscription?

No.

How do I protect my products with Bitcare?

How do I purchase Bitcare?

You can purchase and enroll Bitcare for a qualifying littleBits product from our shop or through your littleBits Education Specialist.

If I have an Education product that is not currently enrolled in Bitcare, can I purchase and enroll Bitcare retroactively?

You can purchase and enroll Bitcare to a qualifying littleBits product within 90 days of purchase or invoiced date. Contact your Education Specialist for more details.

I have a qualifying product that was purchased over 90 days ago, can I still enroll Bitcare?

For a limited time, you may be able to purchase Bitcare for products purchased longer than 90 days ago. To see if your product qualifies, click here for more details, or contact your littleBits Education Specialist.

Does my current littleBits warranty still apply to my kits?

Yes. littleBits Limited Warranty is 90 days, and covers manufacturers defects only. Bitcare begins from your purchase or invoice date, runs concurrently with the Limited Warranty, but covers a lot more!

Do I need to send my non-working Bits to littleBits in order to get replacements?

littleBits will usually require the Bits to be returned. Contact our Customer Success team and we’ll let you know.

What if I can’t find my proof of purchase or don’t have a receipt?

Contact our Customer Success team, and we can try to find it for you.

I’m an educator using a Droid Inventor Kit in a classroom, can I purchase Bitcare?

Not at this time - Bitcare can be purchased for core littleBits Education products only.

Can I buy Bitcare through my reseller?

Bitcare is not currently available for purchase via resellers. Please reach out to littleBits within 90 days of your purchase to enroll Bitcare for your kits.

How do I submit a claim?

Complete the form, “Submit a Bitcare claim” from our Support page here.

How long does it take to get my replacement Bits?

Replacements should usually arrive within 5-7 business days from when your claim is approved.
